ConocoPhillips Company Introduces Reformulated 76 PUREĀ® Synthetic 5W-40 Motor Oil That Exceeds Industry Standards For European Automakers

New 5W-40 Motor Oil from Leading Lubricants Meets European Vehicle Specifications


Houston - ConocoPhillips Company, the fourth largest U.S. lubricants supplier, today announced the introduction of a reformulated version of 76 Pure® Synthetic 5W-40 Motor Oil to meet the performance specifications of European automakers. The new 76 Pure Synthetic 5W-40 motor oil, which has been designed for use in European and other high-performance vehicles that operate under extreme service or temperature conditions, meets and in some cases surpasses the performance requirements of API SM/CF, ACEA A3-04 and ACEA B4-04. It is recommended for use in European vehicles including Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Porsche, where the automaker specifies the use of a SAE 5W-40 engine oil, according to Clarence McCollum, Director of Automotive Products, ConocoPhillips Company.

Newly reformulated 76 Pure Synthetic 5W-40 motor oil offers the following performance benefits:

  • Improved protection against wear and deposit formation
  • Improved protection against volatility related oil consumption
  • Improved resistance to thermal breakdown at high temperatures
  • Excellent low-temperature pumpability for increased protection during cold starts

The new 76 Pure Synthetic 5W-40 motor oil is approved for use and service fill under the following OEM specifications: Mercedes-Benz 229.5, as well as an upgrade to BMW Longlife-01, Porsche (except Cayenne V6) and VW 505.00/502.00.
